Dear Sysop:
In the past few months hundreds of BBS have joined CompuCom's Sysop
program; and, they are making CSP low cost, high-speed access available
to their users.
These boards include the largest BBSs anywhere, Aquila, Canada Remote,
Channel 1, Connect America, Exec PC, Invention Factory, Rusty Edie's and
many more.
This is only the beginning...keeping with CompuCom's commitment to
make high-speed modems affordable to everyone, CompuCom is making sysops
"can't refuse" offers on its new multi-standard modems.
The sysops are ecstatic about it. Not only do they get
high-performance modems, they get them at the lowest cost ever offered
for each modem category.
Sysops are beginning to realize that their callers will always choose
the BBS which gives them AFFORDABLE high-speed connections. CompuCom's
low cost SpeedModems make it possible.
Sysops who have participated in our program so far have experienced
an increase in the number of callers, and in caller satisfaction. Many
have reported that they are getting more callers on their CSP lines than
their v.32 lines.
What they're excited about now is that one low cost modem gives them
both industry standard compatibility, and their users, very low cost CSP,
9600 bps access.
Everybody wins! Furthermore, many sysops would pay far more for
the unique caller ID option, but they get it FREE. Overall Sysop
enthusiasm guarantees broad support in the BBS community for the low
cost CSP standard. That means BBS users are no longer stuck at 2400 bps.
Now, they can join the high-speed Top Guns without bankrupting their
wallets.
The SpeedModem Champ has become the de facto commodity priced
AFFORDABLE STANDARD for 9600 bps modems. The Storm and Star have
accelerated the rapidly growing acceptance of the CompuCom CSP protocol
within the BBS community.
Our Sysop application rate has tripled. Most importantly, it appears
that SpeedModem Champ and Combo users will be welcome on thousands of BBSs!
COMPUCOM SYSOP PROGRAM
The purpose of this program is to develop a joint effort between the
SySop and CompuCom to mutually support the SySop's BBS service and the

Your BBS Ads may be included in each and every CompuCom modem shipped IF
you send a supply (Typically 500-5000) of UP TO 3" X 5" cards. Business
cards ARE acceptable, though 3 X 5's are preferred. Printing on both sides
is fine as well. These cards should include information on your CompuCom

available, Cost (If Any), City and State, etc. These cards should be of
normal card stock, or heavy business card stock, and shipped to CompuCom
directly.
*
For one year, you are required to post an announcement on your opening
(Prelog) screen announcing that your bbs is equipped with a CompuCom
Speedmodem. You should reference the file CompuCom.zip in this message,
and make a current version of this file available to all users. This file
can be downloaded from either of the CompuCom Support BBS's (415-499-3366
or 619-281-2622, These and other files available on your first call!).
*
The BBS is NOT limited to supporting only CompuCom SpeedModems.
*
There is a NEW Voice Support line available to ALL CompuCom owners, though
SYSOPS on the SYSOP PLAN may call, leave their number, and get a call back
on CompuCom's dime. This number is 619-283-1136, and is available 9 - 5,
Pacific Standard Time. Sysops who need a ROM upgrade may call voice, or fax
a message to 619-528-1080, though a voice call would be preferred.
*
ROM upgrades are STILL available to Sysops on the Sysop Plan at NO CHARGE.
*
Sysops who need to add or change a listing on the Speedbbs.txt file may now
FAX this change to tech support at 619-528-1080, or call the voice line at
619-283-1136. Fax's are preferred, and should have all pertinent
information about the bbs. If your bbs is NOT online 24hrs, it will
probably NOT be listed.
*
CompuCom will NOT be providing the sysop plan to bbs's that are NOT online
24hrs/day, unless special arrangements are made. You must call VOICE after
you Mail, Netmail, Email or Fax your application in.
*
Sysops on the Sysop Plan will be entitled to Voice Mail ROM upgrades at NO
CHARGE once the Rom Upgrade is made available, Regardless of when you
purchased the modem. Voice Mail should be available soon and should prove
to be VERY interesting........
*
Sysops Should carry one of the CompuCom Echo's or Conferences, If available
to them. Currently, FidoNet, Network (FamilyNet), Rime (RelayNet) and WWIV
have a CompuCom or Speedmodem echo. Please contact Tech Support if you have
any questions about this..
*
There will be a few more modifications to the Sysop Plan, And I will be
announcing them here, soon..................
CompuCom's SysOp program applies only to SysOps who are operating an
established bulletin board service meeting our qualifications. After
review of your application, a CompuCom representative will sign on and
explore your BBS; final determination of applicability of this offer to
your service will be determined by CompuCom. We will notify you as soon as
possible.
Sincerely,
Marc Teitler
